About

Marnes is the name that my closest friend made up when I first started creating my artworks.

My name is Margherita Baggi and I come from Monfalcone, a town in Friuli - Venezia Giulia,
the Northern-east region of Italy, on the border with Slovenia.

The multiculturalism of my birthplace is one of the things that I am most proud of.
Origins, ancestors, lineages, roots, migrations and cultural identities are topics that constantly influence my work and attitude towards it.

If I hadn't chosen to study Music, Theater and Performance, I would have loved to became a historian and anthropologist.
However, I believe that art can be just another way to approach these subjects.

I studied jazz vocals and compositon between Trieste and Gothenburg.
I look at those years as, at times, confusing and difficult for my identity.

But as time passes, I grow feeling lucky and grateful  to have met professors and students with such different takes on music and music backgrounds.
I recognise that they have exposed me to a range of sounds, colours and approaches that have enriched my artistic vocabulary and pushed me to grow as a person.

After my graduation from the Conservatory, I decided to follow an idea I had had since I was a little girl : to study acting, both theatrical and cinematographic.

By the end of the first year of Drama School, my current agent saw me in a play and invited me to be part of her Actors agency which made my feel like moving to Rome had been the right choice and that following t
he instinct of the little Margherita hadn't been such a wrong move.

The years in Rome taught me that I can always push a my limits further, that I can work harder than I thought and endure more than I knew.

Most importantly, I learned of how much respect and love I have for
the work and its process and that I am no longer afraid of it.

"Take responsibility for your own dreams ."

That's been the hardest but magistral lesson of these past years.

While studying art I learned discipline, an essential part of each creative process and a useful skill in personal matters.

I believe that art and creativity are my tools to read the world and better myself.
When I lose touch with them, I lose touch my right mind.
